About Tampa Divorce

Tampa Divorce is a veteran-owned firm that was founded in February 2019 by attorney J. Robert Angstadt, Esquire. Tampa Divorce was founded with a mission to be a firm with a client-first mentality by an attorney who went through a traumatic divorce before becoming a lawyer.

Since February 2019, the Tampa Divorce Team has strived to be the firm for clients who want a divorce lawyer that truly understands what it feels like to go through a family law case: the feeling of being powerless, the uncertainty over your financial future, the fear of a dramatic change, the desire to be with your children, the concern over false accusations, the disbelief when your own children turn against you through parental alienation.

Founding Partner

J. Robert Angstadt, Esquire

J. Robert Angstadt has been a divorce & family law attorney since becoming a lawyer. Because his practice is focused solely on divorce & family law, Robert has a wealth of experience he is ready to put in action for you. Robert has represented clients in hundreds of divorce & family law cases. Prior to starting Tampa Divorce, Robert was an attorney at one of the largest divorce & family law firms in the State of Florida where he earned that firm’s top award for outstanding performance on behalf the firm and the clients.

J. Robert Angstadt is a divorce & family law attorney who’s been in your shoes. Divorce, child custody and support, parental alienation, divorce while on active duty in the military—Robert’s lived through it himself. He attended law school at the University of Florida and chose Family Law to be the kind of lawyer he wished he could have had as he dealt with a difficult marriage, child custody, and family situation.

It was this personal situation that led Robert to law school where he excelled. Robert graduated in the top 11% of his class at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, the undisputed top law school in the State of Florida. While at law school, Robert was a Justice on the University of Florida Supreme Court, a member of the University of Florida Trial Team, president of the Association for Law & Business, and an ambassador for the law school.

Before entering law school, Robert served in the United States Navy, earning two Navy Achievement Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Operation Iraqi Freedom Medal. He holds a Bachelors Degree from Chapman University in Orange, California and an Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University.

Since graduating from law school, Robert has practiced divorce & family law exclusively. He is passionate about protecting the rights of his clients and seeking the best possible outcomes for them and their families. Robert Angstadt, the divorce lawyer, serves the Tampa Bay area, including Tampa, Westchase, Westchester, The Eagles, Oldsmar, Odessa, Citrus Park, Town N’ Country, Carrollwood, New Port Richey, Westshore, Waterchase, Hampton Lakes, Safety Harbor, Palm Harbor, Clearwater, Largo, and St. Petersburg.

Cara L. Powell

Cara L. Powell is an attorney at Tampa Divorce. Cara is a Florida native and has worked in the legal field for over 18 years. As a single mom to two small children, Cara has a passion for assisting clients in transforming their dynamics with as little impact on their family and finances as possible.

Having gone through a divorce herself and being a child of divorce, she brings a unique perspective and empathy to all her cases. After losing her father and navigating the probate process, Cara found a passion for a different area of law and now enjoys using her skills differently.

Cara received her Bachelor of Arts in English Honors from the University of South Florida, where she focused on rhetoric and technical writing. Cara studied law at the University of Florida Levin College of Law and received her Juris Doctor. While in law school, Cara was a member of the Student Recruitment Team, served as President of the Law Association for Women, and received the Book Award for Mediation. Cara was also trained as a county court mediator and externed at Three Rivers Legal Services in their family law and domestic violence department.

In her spare time, Cara volunteers with The Junior League of Tampa and is on the Social Committee of the Hillsborough Association of Women Lawyers. Cara loves to cheer on the Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars and spend time doing activities with her son and daughter.

Jessie Meeler

Jessie Meeler is the senior paralegal with Tampa Divorce. Jessie is a Pinellas County native and eternal lover of the great State of Florida. Jessie received her Associate’s Degree from St. Petersburg College then started her law career as a legal assistant. Jessie has quickly risen through the ranks to become one of Tampa Divorce’s top paralegals. Jessie is loved by our clients for her dedication, understanding, and passion in ensuring that our cases keep moving forward with our clients understanding each and every step of the process.

Jessie believes every case is unique and ensures each case is handled with great attention to detail. Jessie takes pride in helping families through difficult times.

Jennifer Hall

Jennifer Hall is a paralegal with Tampa Divorce. Jennifer grew up in Tampa and graduated from Steinbrenner high school in the top of her class. Jennifer then attended the University of Florida where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Family, Youth and Community Sciences. During her time as a student, she used her passion to help those around her while serving as President of the School Health Interdisciplinary Program. After graduating, she earned a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Boston University.

Jennifer strives to help families be at ease through some of their most difficult times.

Sunny Angstadt

Sunny is the Office Manager at Tampa Divorce. Sunny has been with our team since day 1 providing financial and accounting services as well as trust account management. Sunny has a bachelor’s degree from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan and a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from the University of Florida, where she graduated #1 in her class. Sunny has over a decade of experience in the financial industry. She is passionate about helping our clients..

Highlights of Robert’s Practice:

Gaining majority timesharing (custody) for a client who was previously only allowed to see his son a few nights every two weeks.

For a client who learned he was not the father, getting paternity disestablished within months after taking the case that had been stalled for four years.

Defeated an attempt by grandparents to keep custody of a child that was fraudulently obtained.
