Cara L. Powell is a partner at Tampa Divorce. Cara is a Florida native and has worked in the legal field for over 18 years. As a single mom to two small children, Cara has a passion for assisting clients in transforming their dynamics with as little impact on their family and finances as possible.

Having gone through a divorce herself and being a child of divorce, she brings a unique perspective and empathy to all her cases. After losing her father and navigating the probate process, Cara found a passion for a different area of law and now enjoys using her skills differently.

Cara received her Bachelor of Arts in English Honors from the University of South Florida, where she focused on rhetoric and technical writing. Cara studied law at the University of Florida Levin College of Law and received her Juris Doctor. While in law school, Cara was a member of the Student Recruitment Team, served as President of the Law Association for Women, and received the Book Award for Mediation. Cara was also trained as a county court mediator and externed at Three Rivers Legal Services in their family law and domestic violence department.

In her spare time, Cara volunteers with The Junior League of Tampa and is on the Social Committee of the Hillsborough Association of Women Lawyers. Cara loves to cheer on the Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars and spend time doing activities with her son and daughter.
